Product Description Mackenzie Allen Philips' youngest daughter, Missy, has been abducted during a family vacation and evidence that she may have been brutally murdered is found in an abandoned shack deep in the Oregon wilderness. Four years later in the midst of his Great Sadness, Mack receives a suspicious note, apparently from God, inviting him back to that shack for a weekend. Against his better judgment he arrives at the shack on a wintry afternoon and walks back into his darkest nightmare. What he finds there will change Mack's world forever. In a world where religion seems to grow increasingly irrelevant "The Shack" wrestles with the timeless question, "Where is God in a world so filled with unspeakable pain?" The answers Mack gets will astound you and perhaps transform you as much as it did him. You'll want everyone you know to read this book!

Beautiful Picture Of God's Love 09 May, 2008 As I read this book I was continually in awe of the visual pictures of God's love that I believed from scripture to be true. So many of Max's questions are ones that we all have or will struggle with. Young did a beautiful job of helping me see God's patience and love for us when we are in the midst of the struggle and questions. In my own life with events of tragedy, I can say that God is faithful and present, waiting for us to trust him with any ounce of faith we may have. I haven't been touched by a book in this way in a long time. After reading it I bought 5 more to borrow to friends. I so desperately want my teenage children and others to see God as he is depicted in the book. I highly recommend this book to all.

Transformation By Encounter! 09 May, 2008 God with skin on is not a new idea but William Young fleshes out God in a way that is sorely needed. Theology does not transform us- encounter wuth the living, loving and approachable Creator of the universe does. I believe we are created to receive, experience, enjoy and release the Love of "Papa" but another force is at work to try to prevent us from doing so. This book has the potential to lead you into a relationship with Love!

So Sad 09 May, 2008 it is sad to me that so many read material like this without thinking through the meaning of its content. this book is a subversive attempt to tear down the God of Scripture and re-create him as something else. this is not biblical Christianity, its 21st century reactionary religion.

A Great Work Of Fiction & Theology! 10 May, 2008 This book is a well written story with a powerful picture of God and His love.
I would highly recommend it! The story includes some heart wrenching sections,
but its well worth the tears to get to the end.
