Discusses Big Wedding Frills For Those On A Budget
07 May, 2010
The authors hold the view that the wedding industry is a racket, but they buy into the consumer's dream and just give you tips on how to play the game and beat the racket, not leave it behind. If you are on a budget and just starting your look at how you want to celebrate the start of your marriage, I recommend _One Perfect Day: The Selling of the American Wedding_ (a little academic, but eye-opening) or _Brides, Inc_. Does your wedding have to be $30,000 extravaganza? No. Does it have to be a bargain-basement version with an over-priced at any price white meringue dress, tasteless multi-tiered cake and tons of tulle ?
No. Just remember: it's a ceremony followed by a party with people you love and who love you. If you want the frills but lack the cash, then maybe this book is for you.

Plain, But Informative
28 March, 2010
There is a LOT of good information in this book. It's well written and I guess for the price you get what you pay for, but I would've liked to see this a bit more expanded with color details.
There's lots of good advice for saving money, but some of the websites are dated.
Overall I would recommend.

A Must Buy To Plan Your Wedding!
10 May, 2010
25 years ago I was a wedding photographer, and on the side I was a bridal consultant. I worked the wedding scene for many years. Now that my daughter is getting married and my husband and I are responsible for the bill. I wanted to know how much things have changed in the wedding business. I read the Bridal Bargains Book and to my surprise not much has changed. The wedding business is a ripoff in all aspects. You say the word wedding and the price goes up at least 50%. This book is a world of knowledge on how to avoid over spending and gives key tips on saving money. There is very sound advice in this book. I highly recommend this book! I will be buying it for all the brides to be and their parents in my life.

Fantastic - Lots Of Detail And Specifics
17 April, 2010
This is now the second "version" of this book that I have bought. It is FILLED with detail and specifics, without sacrificing the over-all "big picture" ideas that you need to keep in mind when planning a wedding. The book works for almost anyone (there is a section for those that live in Canada too!) and I would highly recommend this book to anyone thinking about getting married.
