Good Book To Learn Peachtree
21 May, 2008
PeachTree software for accounting professional is losing out to QuickBooks. As an instructor to find a textbook for PeachTree, this book is the only one. It seems easy to follow. But some of the exercises are outdated, due to the new version of PeachTree. Overall it is not a bad value.

Peachtree For This Dummy
21 June, 2009
I have been a reluctant Peachtree user for the past 3 years mainly because I was introduced to the system as a user task by task as part of my increasing job duties rather than in a comprehensive way or through taking a user class. Consequently, I have had a difficult time figuring out what to do when problems arise or a new task is required. Then I got Peachtree for Dummies and my work-world changed. I'm able to accomplish tasks quicker, more efficiently and with an understanding of how the system integrates, one function effecting another. Using the book has also been invaluable in "problem solving" which has been a huge savings in time and energy. I had to refer to this book frequently over the past year as my bookkeeping tasks increased, and now that I'm more "up to speed" I still keep it handy and use it as needed. I bought a copy for our company headquarters which is located in another city and they're really pleased with the book as well.

Useful, But Updated Edition Needed
04 May, 2007
I bought this out of desperation--there is NOTHING ELSE OUT THERE, at least nothing worth using for learning Peachtree. AVERAGE usefulness for a help-me-I'm-dying guide.
Can be used for a read-through tutorial, but I suggest this only if you are extremely stupid and accounting-illiterate and very bad at navigating self-explanatory computer programs. I'm 17 and have only been doing this accounting thing for 6-7 months, and was totally able to skim/skip the first 3 1/2 chapters.
Don't get me wrong. I needed this book. It simply works better as an index-reference tool (although I will warn you, the setup of the book is unusual, and you will probably need to reference 2-4 different places each time you have a question).
The only thing that really bugged me was that the book is somewhat outdated and needs to be re-vamped. This book was last revised in 2004. I have Peachtree 2007 Pro. In some places, the navigation (Go Here--> Click here) was not applicable to my version of Peach and I was left on my own to find the phantasmic feature.
WOULD RECOMMEND. Although finding the exact info you need can be tricky, it's certainly faster than trying to find the answer yourself or, even worse, online.

Essential Reading For Peachtree Users
15 September, 2009
This book is essential for the average user of Peachtree Complete, and a quick basic reference for the accountants out there. The manual received with Peachtree Complete software, is poorly written and far from complete. The program which was recommended by our agency's accountant, is not very clear, especially for those not formally educated in accounting. Peachtree for Dummies was of tremendous assistance, MUCH more so than our accountant, the software's manual, on-line support and telephone support, combined.
